Setup and Deployment

Setup and Deployment of Internet Commerce Engine 5

Read Me First

READ ME FIRST - We have upgraded the program modules for full compatibility for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.

Refer to the installation guide for the procedure for installing to either Windows XP / Server 2003 or Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2.

Attention Designers - You can SKIN or customize the program without having to install SQL Server, or running the setup and deployment wizard. The Setup and Deployment Wizard is for store functionality only. So download the RAW package and do a manual installation.

Make sure you have the latest version

You setup Internet Commerce Engine 5 two ways now. The first is using our Setup and Deployment package for Microsoft Windows XP. The 2nd is downloading the raw package and doing a manual installation of the program files.

Using the Setup and Deployment Project is much easier, and just takes few minutes. A manual installation may take up to an hour to complete. You must be deploying in IIS6 to use the Setup and Deployment Wizard.

First make sure you have the most current binary files. The current version is 1.5.5.0. The most current version can be found below. You can download the binaries without having to complete the registration process found on the product page.

We are working on trying to get these files mirrored on some other websites that have more bandwidth. We will update this page when this happens.

The program code has no been fully tested on Windows XP 32 bit, Vista Business 32 Bit, Windows 7 32 bit and Windows Server 2008 64 Bit with success. All adjustments to the code have been made for 64 bit operation on Server 2008. We assume that it will work on 64 Bit versions of Server 2003 and 32 bit versions of Server 2008.

Setup on Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 must be done manually. You must extract the files and setup a web site for it on IIS7+. Using a Application Pool set to Framework 2.0 with Integrated will do fine. Do not run the application in classic mode, it will not work. Remember to set the folder permissions on or else you will get a Server 500 Error.

/App_Data - machineName\IUSR +modify - machineName\IIS_IUSRS +modify

/redCopper/HKB - machiineName\IUSR +modify - machineName\IIS_IUSRS +modify

/shoppingcart/EN-US/Checkout - machineName\IUSR +modify - machineName\IIS_IUSRS +modify

/shoppingcart/EN-US/Checkout/AIM - machineName\IUSR +modify - machineName\IIS_IUSRS +modify

The 2 permissions above will be fixed in the next program update - 2010/01/11

You don't have to add Network Service as a user, and set the permmissions, because the Application Pool will use it's own identity. The Network Service account is for Windows XP and Server 2003 running IIS5.5+

NASE 2012 Standard Edition is now theme ready

RareMetals Application Theme We have upgraded the program structure of NASE 2012 Standard Edition to a new format that allows for skins or themes to be created.

The first theme available is called Rare Metals, and is a wonderful blend of neutral colors. By creating new background art and updating the EN-US_Theme.css file, you can create multiple themes and switch them with ease.

The application represents a typical layout similar to news and information websites. You can simply just change out the art to create your own look and feel.

The original art files are included as well in the Adobe Illustrator format.

Setup and Deployment - Windows XP / Server 2003

Windows XP - IIS5.5 Installation - Support for XP will discontinue September 5, 2011

Once you have downloaded your binaries, save them to a safe place and unpack or extract the contents of the package. The contents currently contain 3 files as of this date. Make sure you have the 3 files like you see in the picture below. You should have a setup.exe, NASE_2010_NET35_x86.msi, and the Installation Manual.pdf

The names of the files have changed, and the picture below is outdated, but should still give you the idea of whatyour looking for.

Read the Installaton Manual First. It will give you a complete picture of the entire installation process. Print it out and take an hour to review the process first, instead of just diving into it.

Make sure have pre-loaded the required programs before running the Setup.exe Program.

Setup.exe is designed to make sure you have all the required programs loaded first. The MSI file is the actual Deployment program that includes all of the files packed into a single cabinet.

When your ready, run the Setup.exe program. The following screen will appear.

The first screen is the splash screen. click next to read the End User License Agreement. If you agree to the terms, then select next. Now you will have the Select Installation Address Screen.

Select Installation Address

This part get tricky. The site represents that first website that exist in the IIS6+ collection of websites. It is important that you have installed IIS6+ server on your development machine, in order for the Setup and Deployment Package to work.

By default, when you load IIS6+ for the first time, it will make a default web site for you to program.

This default website will be located in C:\InetPub\wwwroot by default. There are some files that are copied into the folder to assist you in making your first site by a Microsoft Development tool. We reccomend that you delete all the files in the folder before you start. Or else they wil get mixed into your installation. You can use IIS Manager to change the location of the site to a different folder, as suggested in the Installation Manual.

The Virtual Directory allow you to create a new folder in the Default Website Location. We reccomend leaving this blank, unless your an advanced user and you know what your doing.

So if you make a virtual folder, the location of your project would be C:\InetPub\wwwroot\VirtualDirectory.

When ready, click on next and the installation process will begin. The files will unpack and install into the Default Web Site Folder that you have assigned.

After the installation is complete. There will be a desktop icon that is black, with the words ICE5 Start. Click on that icon and your browser will be launched and directed to the Site Administrator.

You now have 2 choices. If you have not installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008, then use Option 1. If you have already installed SQL Server 2008, then proceed to Option 2
